Dear Friends,
The forth annual KUK Music Festival was an incredible success!! Approximately 4000 people came out to enjoy the wide variety of musical talent on display, braving a sprinkling of rain and enjoying the majority of the weekend in the sun.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to the many individuals, organizations and businesses that have supported the Kick’n Up Kountry Music Festival this past year. The 2007 KUK Music Festival could not have been possible without the generous support of the Pennington County Fair Board, our Sponsors, the KEM Shiners’, Volunteer Coordinators and Workers, the Thief River Falls Police Department, the Entertainers, and of course, YOU the fans.A phrase keeps running through my mind and its meaning was in full evidence during the 2007 Labor Day weekend. It goes like this: "Together we can make a difference." Together we all made a few dreams come true for children with life threatening illness. Neal McCoy, Phil Vassar and other celebrity entertainers spent time with the kids, taking pictures and signing autographs. We were honored to have played a part in finding a way to make their dreams of meeting a country star become a reality.
Thank you to all the volunteers in Thief River Falls, and in the surrounding communities, who contributed to the great success of this year's KUK Music Festival! The individuals who helped are almost countless. I can't list them all because I might leave somebody out! But you know who you are and I am tremendously grateful for all you did to help.
I want to thank all the wonderful people who patronized the KUK Music Festival. We were delighted with the turnout of people. It takes many hands and hearts to put a show like ours together. I was confident that our Music Festival would be a very enjoyable fun-filled three days with lots of good music, great musicians, and friendly people. That’s exactly what the fans made of it. Thank you for all that you did to make this a wonderful Music Festival.
I would also like to extend my thanks to the many individuals, organizations and businesses that have supported Kickn’n Up Kountry Music Festival this year. From hosting to fundraising and sponsorship, the support we have received from the folks in our NW Minnesota service area has been wonderful, rewarding, and much appreciated.
I want to thank everyone for coming out to the first KUK Music Festival held at the Pennington County Fairgrounds in Thief River Falls, MN. We all had a great time and hope you’ll come back to see our 2008 Labor Day Weekend event next year! Keep checking back as we're already working on a GREAT line up for you. A few of the artists we are currently negotiating with are Charlie Daniels, George Jones, Little Big Town and Joe Nichols!

"Hopes, Dreams and Smiles Fund" Established!
Ardell Larson, CEO of Kick'n Up Kountry is proud to announce that the "Hopes, Dreams and Smiles Fund" has been established through the Northwest Minnesota Foundation. This creation provides children from North Dakota and Minnesota who have a life threatening illness or disability, the opportunity to enjoy a special event or other activity that will have a positive impact on their lives.
Kick'n Up Kountry is pleased to be the inaugural special event that will be hosting eight children and their families at this years event in Thief River Falls, MN., from August 31 through September 2, 2007.
David, Diane, and Brittany Wells from Larimore, North Dakota (the host family) will be present to assist families in whatever they may need. For those of you who are attending the music festival for the first time, Brittany was the first child that was fighting a life-threatening illness to attend the festival. She met Neal McCoy (her favorite artist). It meant so much to their family, that they offered to be the host family and help at this year's festival.
Northwest Minnesota Foundation has appointed Ardell Larson, Lake Bronson, Minn., Attorney Larry McDowell, Thief River Falls, Minn., Roger Thomas, P.A., Thief River Falls, Minn., Glen Brazier, Greenbush, Minn., David, Diane, and Brittany Wells, Larimore, ND, and Beth Pridday of Detroit Lakes, Minn. to the fund advisory committee.
They will help with promoting the Hopes, Dreams, and Smiles Fund, working with area healthcare facilities and providers to identify young people to take part in this program, and to encourage charitable contributions to the fund.
